About

June 1st, 2008

THE GOOD WORD is currently hosted by Brad Wilkins (aka B.WilkZ), who has been listening to jazz, soul and hip-hop since before he even understood what music really was. Back in the youthful days of Harrisburg Pennsylvania he would make mixtapes and CDs with new songs and sell them to students at school, and eventually began to get more into DJ’ing and producing entire shows.

Fast forward to the recent present days, THE GOOD WORD first began on Pittsburgh’s 88.3 FM station that was broadcast from WRCT out of Carnegie Mellon college. After a brief hiatus, the show was also broadcasting full episodes on 92.1 FM in Pittsburgh, on WPTS (University Of Pittsburgh). With help from his friend Jason Blatt, the website was created and shows were catalogued and available online for people around the World to be able to tune in. And thanks to the invention of mp3 players, the shows are also now available for podcast, where listeners can subscribe and automatically update with new episodes to listen anywhere they go.

THE GOOD WORD focuses around hip-hop and soul focused on the music itself, specifically with lyrics, and ignores the commericalism and image that rap and hip-hop is sometimes is categorized in. The goal is to give listeners a chance to hear music they may not have otherwise known existed, and help musicians and fans to recognize the inspiration behind real music.

And the beat goes on….
